Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos

September 20, 2021 by baerrs Leave a Comment

This is my favorite fish tacos recipe, mahi mahi fish tacos. The blackened Mahi Mahi combined with mango salsa and cilantro lime cream sauce goes well together. This flavor combination is the best. The red onions provide some color and crunch. You can then build it how every you would like. Some shredded lettuce or red cabbage are both great options.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz Mahi Mahi
  • 1 teaspoon Blackening seasoning
  • 1 each mango ¼" dice
  • 1 each onion, red ¼" dice
  • 1 bucnh cilentro diced
  • ½ tablespoon butter
  • 1 oz olive oil
  • 2 tablespoon sour cream
  • 1 each lime
  • 2 each tortillas

Instructions

  • Dice and mix, red onions, mago and cilantro.
  • Pat dry the mahi-mahi with a paper towel. season with blackening seasoning. If you cant find blackening seasoning, just add a little sugar to a cajun blend it will be fine
  • Add butter and olive oil to a pan, when melted add seasoned mahi-mahi. Sear till there is a good color, then flip. Should be about 3 to 4 min each side. Depending on the thickness of the mahi-mahi, you may need to finish them in the oven at 350 for 5 mins.
  • Dice cilantro and mix with sour cream and juice of ½ lime (lime zest too if your zesty)
  • When fish is done, clean the same pan and toast your tortillas (for fish, I prefer flour but most people use corn)
  • Assemble and enjoy

Notes

There are tons of ways to make this recipe your own.
  1. Try marinating the mahi-mahi in lime juice for 5 or 10 min before you sear it.  I still would pat it dry, and add the blackening seasoning if it were me.
  2. Add red cabbage, it works great with fish tacos
  3. Add thinly sliced radishes
  4. Add and English cucumber to the mango salsa, peeled and de-seeded
  5. Add a chipotle sauce... incredible..  <<<---try this
